Pasta Machine - the Real McCoy

As I sat at the market making canes today, I watched a real pro across from me. Loris of Zara's Italian Deli was making pasta with the new machine that is the pride of his Granville Island shop. Loris tells me that there are smaller versions that might work for me, but I am happy churning polymer clay canes out on my little Imperial Pasta machine at my market table. I save the heavy churning to the Dream Machine at my studio.

Sometimes an Extra Table Happens

Once in a while someone leaves the market early and there is an extra table just aching to have something on it. My market neighbour, Darla Zary and I conspired to fill the emptiness.

Darla and her wonderful cards and pictures will be in the market again this week from Thursday to Sunday. And me? I hardly ever leave. Luckily my son, Max, is there half the time so I still  have time to work at the studio.

Sorry Darla does not sell on line but my Etsy Shop is gradually filling up.

Not the Cover of the Rolling Stone

Well it is not the cover of the Rolling Stone but page 16 of the local entertainment weekly, The Georgia Straight, but there it is, one of my crow necklaces. Check out Heather Haley's punkish noel, The Town Slut's Daughter. And thanks Janet at Craft House for spotting the picture of Heather wearing my crow necklace.

For those of you wishing to buy such a necklace, there is one available in my Etsy shop.

Back to Granville Island

This Monday I will be back at Granville Island for the week. I am really looking forward to the whole island experience, customers, fellow artisans and the general buzz of the place. I am looking forward to spending a lot of time there but for the next two years I can't me sure of my dates until the Saturday before the market week. (For Survivor fans this is like staying of the Island but without an immunity idol.) Most days, especially week days, either my son or I will be enjoying the island atmosphere and meeting a lot of people from all over the world. Can't wait!

The first two picture were taken on my walk to Granville Island. The first is Thornton Park and the second is False Creek. The third is Ocean Cement Plants open house which is only once a year and will be on the 25th this year. That is this coming Friday.

A Rare Sight

I have interrupted the bowling for a sight that is so rare that I have to make note of it. Both my children in my studio at the same time. Max is conditioning clay for me and Sophie is using the sewing machine during one of her visits from California.

The paintings both finished and unfinished are by my talented studio mate, Ray Ophoff.

Bowled Over

Answer to yesterday's question: You make your site so secure that even you cannot get into it. I am back now and will just post a bowl picture everyday while I get other things in order.
