GI Moment - Enter the Fire Monkey

Granville Island greets the fire monkey in style. Every year the lions come to dance there way through the market bringing prosperity and shredding gifts of lettuce. I am not sure about the prosperity but I can vouch for the lettuce. No fire works inside the market though. If you want to come and see ... I will not be in the market selling that day but I might drop in for the fun.

Help Granville Island ring in the Year of the Monkey with traditional Chinese Lion Dancers who will make their way around the Public Market, the Net Loft, Railspur Alley, and the Creekhouse (Railspur Alley and the Creekhouse are weather dependant). Participating tenants will hang lucky red envelopes and heads of lettuce above the entrances to their businesses and the dancers will climb up and tear them down, ripping up the lettuce and throwing it back at the business. It is considered very lucky to be hit by the flying lettuce so don't worry if a few rogue pieces fly into your face! The Fortune God will be following the dancers and handing out lucky red envelopes with treats inside to spectators."
